SNUNEYMUXW TERRITORY, Nanaimo BC – January 29, 2024 – Hullo, the fast foot-passenger ferry connecting Nanaimo and Vancouver, is set to transform into the ultimate dating experience in celebration of Valentine’s Day.
Hullo’s ‘High-Speed Speed dating’ event will take place on the upper deck of its fast-ferry on Thursday, February 1, promising a night of fun, laughter and connection for singles from the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island.
Xander France, Hullo’s Marketing and Sales Director, shared that the event was inspired by guests and their reasons for traveling on Hullo.
“Whether it’s to spend time with loved ones or meet someone new, we recognize the need for a fast and affordable way for people on both sides of the Salish Sea to connect. Our speed dating event is a fun and unique way for singles to meet people beyond their usual circles, especially in the lead-up to Valentine’s Day.”
“We received about 130 applications, and our team has diligently evaluated each candidate, carefully considering their unique interests, goals, and skills, along with the potential for a match with other applicants.”
“We’ve narrowed it down to 40 participants – about 20 singles from the Island and 20 singles from the mainland – and planned a great night of activities, food and mocktails!”
The event will kick off with the fast-ferry picking up participants in Vancouver at 5:30 pm and picking up participants in Nanaimo at 7:30 pm. Participants will then enjoy 70 mins of mingling and speed-dating, before bringing everyone back home.
Since launching in August 2023, Hullo has garnered tremendous support from the community, celebrating over 150,000 trips between Nanaimo and Vancouver.
Hullo also recently welcomed the addition of a new BC Transit bus route to the Nanaimo Port Authority Terminal, making the fast-ferry even more accessible to the Regional District of Nanaimo and beyond.
“We’re all about creating better connectivity and meeting the needs of our community. Our guests have told us about the need to increase sailings, so we’re excited to share our Spring sailing schedule in the coming days which includes up to six roundtrips on the five busiest travel days of the week,” said Xander France.
